Box Turtle Day is coming! Granted only to North Carolina. But if you live near the North Carolina Arboretum, sign up for reptile demonstrations, turtle crafts and more. The 4th annual Box Turtle Day happens on June 10, from 10am to 2pm.

Even if you’re nowhere near North Carolina, there’s nothing stopping you from celebrating your favorite reptile. Extra treats for everyone’s box turtles!

Harwich (MA) residents asked to report box turtle sightings: The Harwich Conservation Trust wants to know when and where you see one of these fascinating animals.

Hope for Ornate Box Turtles in Illinois

Illinois ornate box turtles have reason to celebrate!

Just a few weeks ago (in June 2016), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reached its goal of reestablishing a population of 100 ornate box turtles in an Illinois prairie. And they’re 4 years ahead of schedule!

The USFWS, along with 3 Illinois zoos, have been hatching and caring for ornate box turtles since 2009. Each year they send a few more to their new home.

The Eastern Box Turtle is North Carolina’s state reptile, and the North Carolina Arboretum is celebrating with its 3rd annual Box Turtle Day!

Just a little aside here: … State reptile??!!? … Is there anything states won’t pick an official representative of? Not that the box turtle doesn’t deserve it. It totally does. I’m just constantly amazed at all the official pies, birds, books, cars, cats, … and reptiles … to name just a few!

Ok. Back to Box Turtle Day.

But probably more about box turtles than others.
