It’s getting late in the season, but turtles are still hatching. Plus scientists may be more creative than you ever realized, and an impressive catch for a snapper, among other stories.

Peach goes home with tracker: She’s the Kemp’s ridley sea turtle who ate 4 feet of fishing line earlier this year. She needed surgery to get it all out. 🙁 But she’s all healed now, and she’s going to help researchers learn where she goes.

Baby diamondback terrapin wanted to party: Ok, probably not, but it became an instant hit at the Lynnhaven River Now Fall Festival just the same. After being treated like a rock star, it was sent on its way. 💗 (Virginia Beach)

It’s Irma the baby loggerhead: Isn’t she cute? Irma the hurricane seems to have deposited her on the Overseas Highway in the Florida Keys. That’s where she was found the next day. Hopefully she’ll be heading back to sea soon.

Learn about sea turtles: It’s a Sea Turtle Open House at Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in South Wellfleet, Massachusetts. It happens on Saturday, November 25.

Footballers for sea turtles! The 24-Hour Football Challenge will benefit Gulf green turtles and other marine life. It’s exactly like it sounds: 24 hours of football (soccer). It’s happening in November in Dubai.

Rehabbing turtles in Hainan: Hainan Normal University started a turtle conservation & research center 3 years ago. Since then it has rehabbed more than 50 turtles. And attracted many volunteers, students and teachers.

Turtle and diver both escape shark: Yikes! The diver was filming a shark with a turtle in its mouth. The turtle got free & the shark charged the diver! 😮 (Western Australia)

Marine turtle festival: It was held in Tun Mustapha Park, Malaysia’s largest marine park to highlight the turtle conservation work being done in the area. 💗

Sea turtle hatchery on Cham Island: They’re building a sea turtle conservation area, and the plan included importing sea turtle eggs. The 1st babies hatched in September, with a 100% hatching rate. (Vietnam)
